Motion Amplification

Motion Amplification® is a technique that uses proprietary video and image processing to detect subtle motion and make it visible to the naked eye in order to understand the interrelationships and causes creating the motion.

As industrial equipment, machinery, and other components operate, they often produce very small vibrations and movements. These vibrations are so small that they can’t be detected with the human eye. However, as pieces of machinery vibrate, components can become misaligned, imbalanced, loose, cracked, or worse. Such movement reduces efficiency, harms equipment, and can build up to catastrophic damage.

But by using a Motion Amplification® camera and software, it’s possible to detect such tiny movements and understand their effects. Motion Amplification® technology uses digital video and image processing techniques to measure vibration and movement pixel by pixel, extracting and scaling up data to produce a visual representation of movement.

The live video feed processes pixels in real time to show how vibrations and movements affect the whole system and supporting structures and can be recorded and post processed for advanced analysis. While conventional vibration analysis techniques can produce numerical data and charts that indicate vibration extent and damage, seeing is believing. Video Motion Amplification® provides a powerful, non-invasive visual representation of subtle movements and a rich, cost-effective means of analysis.

IRIS M

The Iris M™ has revolutionized the way companies monitor billions of dollars worth of plant machinery, process lines, structures, engineering design processes, and much more. By turning every pixel in the camera into a displacement sensor, Iris M™ takes millions of measurements in a fraction of a second. And it does this with no physical contact with your machinery or equipment. For the first time, you will be able to instantly see, analyze, and communicate what is invisible to the naked eye and transition to action and root cause problem-solving. By visualizing every motion present in the scene, you can see where to take measurements and then instantly take them with a simple click of a button on the screen. The Iris M™ offers overall troubleshooting and in-depth analysis in one easy-to-use tool.

IRIS MXTM

The All New Iris MX from RDI Technologies expands upon its revolutionary Iris M™ product to open up the world of Motion Amplification® to high-speed applications. With up to 1400 FPS in HD resolution, you can now apply Motion Amplification® and communicate virtually every displacement in the scene. Now with the portability option, data collection has never been as fast or easy.
